In 2013 Alan Synkowicz, PBYC founding father, jokingly noted that every city in south Florida area has their own yacht club, except Pompano.  He proclaimed, "we should have one!".  He set off to name this group PBYC: Pompano Beach Yacht Club.  He went out and made shirts for themselves and close friends.  As they wore the shirts, momentum caught up amongst other circles in the community as to its "secret society" mystique due to numerous "PBYC" shirt bearers.  The fun was established with this mysterious aura: "Where is this yacht club and whats this all about???".......there was none; just know one person that has the shirt and represent the shirt as if you care about it and proud of it.  As this mysterious "club" grew virally, Alan was  approached to monetize the Club as a private membership.  Alan felt there was better purpose as privatizing PBYC was not the original intent, so he passed on the opportunity.  Over time, the momentum of the club gained so much traction, that Alan agreed to pass the baton to his friend Larry Morales.  With the help of Alan and friends, Larry led the effort make a mission out of this popularity and make it a formal NON-PROFIT 501(c)(3) for the betterment of the community and fraternal purpose.
